Hello!

Don’t worry: on brand as it may be, I’m not really going to have my first proper post in months feature a track by The Frantic Four.

In fact, I’d prefer if you didn’t think of this as a proper post at all.

I’ll explain: I’m still signed off work, as I continue to suffer from the problems, pain, and loss of movement and strength in pretty much all of my joints as a result of my recent psoriasis flare-up, and this is most pronounced in my legs and hands.

I can only walk with the aid of either a walking stick or a frame; I struggle to open or grip things, and writing and typing is difficult and painful, to say the least.

So, no, this isn’t a a proper post. What this is, is rehab. I’m due to have my first consultation with a rheumatologist this Friday, but in the meantime I figured I needed to take matters into my own hands – literally – and start trying to do some of the things I’ve struggled with recently.

And so here we are.

The plan is to try and post a few short pieces here – probably relating to my progress – every now and then, in an effort to get myself back to something approaching normal (whatever that is).

This seemed appropriate to soundtrack my sort-of-return (and it’s a banger):

Martin Solveig Feat. Dragonette – Hello (Original Mix)

More soon (but probably not too soon…).

  1. Hello to you too. Well done on typing out this amount of words – bet it was hard going.

Hope the upcoming consultation goes well, but in the meantime, welcome back. It’s not been the same without you and your rants!

  2. And hello to you from me too! Good to see you back but so sorry to hear that you’re still suffering so much, it sounds awful and really hope that the rheumatologist can help you get through this and back to full health as quickly and easily as possible. In the meantime your approach now sounds perfect – a little push now and then as a form of physiotherapy/rehab to keep you moving forward and gather some momentum. Always lovely to see you here – and yes, I agree with Alyson, we miss your rants!

  3. Good to see you post again Jez. How easy do you find it using a zimmer? I had to use one a few years ago, I felt safer than with crutches or a walking stick.

    1. I’ve not had to use crutches since I broke my foot about 25 nurses ago, and I quite like using a stick, but I think you’re right, the Zimmer does seem to offer more stability. Can’t wait until I don’t have to use either!

    1. Welcome back Jez
      Hope your situation improves quickly.
This sounds like excellent rehab. Looking forward to the occasional mini rant.

  4. I’ll just add my best wishes that have been offered by everyone else. Good luck…..and take all the time you need to get better instead of rushing back here.

Have you thought about accepting guest postings? I’d be more than happy to type something up. All I need is for you to tell me the subject matter….but I’ll warn you, there’s no way I could rant anywhere near as coherently or effectively as you.

If the offer is of any use, gimme a shout : thevinylvillain@hotmail.co.uk
