Sunday Morning Coming Down

You know that glorious honeymoon period, when you first here an artist, go on a voyage of discovery, find you love everything you come across by them and wonder how you’ve never heard them before?

That’s where I am right now with Laura Cantrell.

Hers is a name I’d heard before, but not any of her records, and then I recently stumbled over today’s track and I’ve been besotted ever since.

  1. I love the song “14th Street” from Humming By The Flowered Vine (2005). I know she’s from Nashville, but I like to imagine she’s singing about NYC. Like the song you posted, Cantrell is so endearing because she doesn’t have a powerful voice or a lot of range, but she always goes for it anyway, reaching to the fullest extent.
