Late Night Stargazing

Happy Belated New Year!

Apologies for the dead air for the past few day, I’ve been laid up with the flu (again), and, even more seriously, without internet access all week down to some little tykes messing with a BT box round the corner from me.

Anyway, this is a rather lovely way to kick off the new year, a bit of Britpop trip-hop, and the closing track from Sneaker Pimps “Becoming X” album (unless you have the reissue which has a remix of “6 Underground” at the end, that is).

You may know this from a rather fine version which Doves did a few years back, or perhaps you’ll be familiar with the one which appears in a *ahem* quite memorable scene from the original release of “The Wicker Man”…you’ll know what I mean if you’ve seen it….

  1. Big fan of Sneaker Pimps, Kelli Ali’s solo work and the original version of The Wicker Man, so a great choice Jez, love this song. Happy New Year to you and hope you’re feeling tons better now.

      1. Ooh, now you’ve got me started! I think Kelli’s album ‘Tiger Mouth’ is a great, perfect pop really but with a subtle edge – from the dancey sexiness of ‘Inferno High Love’ to the gloriously sweet uplifting ‘Here Comes The Summer’ to slightly harder, faster ‘The Infinite Stars’ and a bit of a dubstep thing going on in ‘Keep On Dreaming’ – well I could list them all on there as there’s not one track on it I don’t like. I wasn’t so keen on her ‘Psychic Cat’ album but loved some later material, more introspective and acoustic such as the wonderfully wistful ‘What To Do’. Would also recommend ‘Lucifer Rising’, other side of the Inferno High Love single…. Hope that helps!
